Experiential learning opportunities equip our students with insight and experience in applying sustainability in the real-world business context.  Whether leading a team, innovating and updating existing business models, or collaborating across various industry sectors to address social and environmental concerns alongside profitability, students will develop valuable skills by participating in case competitions.

International Impact Investing Challenge

Join us to hear top teams from premier MBA programs present an investment strategy for an institutional investor that will simultaneously create sustainable impact and financial return. This event is designed to push the boundaries of impact investing and stimulate thoughtful conversation about the future of the field.

The International Impact Investing Challenge offers an opportunity for you to mingle with peers who are interested in advancing the impact investing space while supporting young leaders who aspire to translate their energy and passion for the sector into careers.

The keynote address will be given by Jonathan Greenblatt, Director of the White House Office of Social Innovation.

Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC)

The Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) provides aspiring entrepreneurs with mentoring, exposure, and $50,000 in prizes to transform their ideas into businesses that will have positive real world impact. Founded by MBA students at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, the GSVC has evolved into a global network supported by an international community of volunteer judges, mentors and student organizers and a partnership of premier business schools in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa. In 2012, GSVC received over 600 entries from 50 countries. Previous years’ finalists include Husk Power, Revolution Foods, and d.light design.

Global Finals and Conference

Join active and aspiring social entrepreneurs, double-bottom line business leaders, and GSVC finalist teams for a day filled with inspiration and action.  Hear stories from the front lines of social entrepreneurship, get expert advice from world-renowned responsible business leaders, and watch the GSVC Global Finalist teams pitch their ideas for the future of social enterprise.

Levi's Undergraduate Case Competition

During Fall 2010, the Center partnered with California College of the Arts (CCA) and held an undergrad case competition with Levi Strauss & Co. This sustainability-focused case competition brought together business and design thinking to create innovative solutions that focused on denim recycling, reuse, and resale.

Target & Sustainability Undergraduate Case Comp 2.0

In Spring 2010, the Center teamed up with Target and challenged students to be creative, to explore the business applications of social technology platforms, and help one of the world's largest companies address the complexities of sustainability in the retail industry.
